...have clearly defined goals and purpose.
...are written clearly.
...have assessment/evaluation procedures.
...give choices without dictating one way.
...give organizational guidelines.
...give process suggestions.
...invite students to engage in the discipline.
...honor the voices of the students.
...give examples as models to guide.
...specify a particular genre(s).
...should focus on both process and content.
...should spell out mechanical aspects of the assignment.
...should enhance the creative process.
...should describe the revision process.
...define and explain terms.
