We are especially interested in your reactions and experiences with certain elements of the process we used for creating digital stories.  Today, think about the part of the process where we asked you to create a storyboard using posterboard.  What happened as you created your storyboard?  What questions did you encounter with respect to your story and how did you resolve those questions?  If you have yet to create a storyboard in this way, why are you finding it difficult to complete the storyboard?

Remember to take your time responding to this prompt.  Your thoughtful and deliberate reflection will be most helpful to us.

I don't want to brag, but the storyboard was easy for me. Since I had written my story in the order in which I wanted to present it, it was a simple matter of cutting the words apart and thinking of when I wanted the pictures to change.

The map we made and the storyboard made the whole process of creating extremely logical and easy.  Those two elements would be essential when using the digital stories in a classroom. The step-by-step procedure would be easy for students to understand and to follow in the creating and executing.

Wow! I cannot believe how easy this whole process was. I have learned to use two programs, Microsoft Movie Maker and Audacity, in a very short time period. I did not have any problems laying out the story board, actually I had this part completed before it was assigned. The posterboard allowed for my thoughts and visions to become more clear. Overall the main objective accomplished was the organization of all my material.

Fortunately you did the hardest part for me in separating the story into segments.  When I actually sat down to do the story board the further along I got the more questions I asked myself, "should this come before that, no maybe this?"  I like the idea of a storyboard in that it helps to organize the project.  When I thought I was finished I changed my mind about a couple placements and the order in which they should go.

As I put the pieces together, I was visualizing what music might go where. This was especially easy to do in my case because it is about a personal experience. I still have some questions as to length and how the voice and music might be mixed. These questions will be resolved as I assemble all the components into the final product.

I thought the story board was a good, hands-on way to manipulate the "frames" of the story.  This allowed us to match pictures with words and move them as necessary.  Not only would this appeal to the visual learner, but it would also be beneficial to the kinesthetic learner.  This activity also made a very nice bridge between concrete operations and abstract.

I used my storyboard if you will as the stage for my movie. In this regard it help whole heartedly. I was glad that I was shown how to make one of these storyboards also. It has helped to get most of my ideas in an order if you will that others are now able to see what I am doing.

I didn't have much trouble creating the storyboard, although I created mine without all my pictures and images but it made it easier to follow the pattern created by my board when I put my movie together.

The story board was no problem, it almost created itself as an extension of putting the project together.  It seemed 'natural' to create the story that way.  This makes me think that digital story is an exceptional pre-writing tool.

The storyboard was almost a side project in my movie.  The structure and content of my narrative could be matched with any pictures of people that could be considered friends to someone.  This arbitrary side-bar mighht have led to more diffuculties than I was willing to take on.  I found myself fretting over how each image may evoke negative feelings of the poeple in the frames that were joined with some of the more negative aspects of my narrative.  The storyboard allowed pauses for dramatic impact that complimented the text.  The excersise was beneficial in the project because it allowed me to see the whole as more of a literary piece than simple an activity.
